0.76ct. Round Diamond

Carat Weight0.76

Clarity SI2
Depth 65.4
Table 64
Symmetry VG
Certificate EGL
Polish VG
Girdle STL TK-VERY TK

Cut Grade Very Good

I'm considering this diamond as I'm on a budget and am not after the worlds best diamond just one that will look good to the naked eye.

I'm confused by the cut grade as the depth and table % indicate that it is a poor cut. Am I correct on this? I'd hate to buy it only to find out it won't look good even to the untrained eye.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

From experience, some EGL certificates can be a little more generous with the grading than other laboratories. Very often, this is reflected in the price. What appears to be a bargain might not be. I colour should still be fairly white. I would advise seeing this particular stone before considering it as a purchase.

As for the proportions, I would be happier if the diamond was nearer to 6mm in size, since this particular stone is likely to be a little deep considering the weight and the dimensions.

If you are buying off certificate, without seeing the diamond, I would advise choosing GIA, IGI or if it is EGL, making sure it is a higher colour. Make sure that if the situation arises that you are not happy, the retailer has a full money back refund policy.

If you purchase by credit card, it will be safer since most companies offer some degree of protection and support if you encounter problems after purchase.

Is this EGL USA or EGL-International graded? That makes a big difference. Most EGL-USA graded stones of this size and quality are for the most part graded accurately from my experience.

If you have a copy of the report, please post it.
