Hi there. I am afraid, in terms of the cut, this diamond does not seem to be very well cut. The diameter is more typical of a 0.70-0.75cts diamond. This means it might well have been cut to achieve this magical 1ct weight, and has given little consideration to the cut, which determines how the stone will handle the light.
If you love the diamond, and it was a very keen price, you will no doubt be very happy with your purchase, but if I was selling a 1ct diamond, I tend not to sell round brilliant cut 1cts below 6.3 -6.4mm in size.
I would however expect a magical price tag to accompany the compromised lack of spread for this
diamond.
In terms of the colour and clarity of the diamond, it is hard to tell how true to these grades the stone is without seeing the diamond. Typically, G colour SI1 clarity diamonds will appear white with inclusions hard to detect with the naked eye. This should be something you can judge for yourself fairly easily.
I hope this does not come across too critical, it is merely my opinion and intented to be constructive.
Best wishes.

Leo,
It is indeed hard to tell the exact quality without seeing the diamond. Did you get a certificate with it from one of the accredited organizations? If so, that will give you all the info.
In terms of the color and clarity, I will relate my experience on that and let you judge for yourself. when I bought my diamond, I was trying to get the "perfect" diamond in terms of clarity and color. This was at least what I had been told. I wanted a D color at VSI. However, the broker explained to me that the higher cut and clarity are basically a waste of money unless you are investing. But for a ring or jewelry, the lower grades are sometimes better. I ended up with a H color and SI1.
I was explained to me that the perfectly clear or colorless diamonds actually don't sparkle as well. It is the slight coloration that reflects the light and gives it the fire you look for. On the clarity, the broker used an eyepiece and mapped out the inclusions. I then looked for 5 minutes, but could not find anything wrong. So I figured that with a scope and a mpa, if I can't see anything, then the naked eye surely won't, so what does it matter if they are in there?
I would say you are just fine on color and clarity. But if you have not bought it yet, you must ask for a certification from one of the registered appraisal organizations to ensure you are getting what you pay for.
Good Luck,

Hi Leo, are you in the LA area? If you get a copy of the diamond report please post it so we may help you further.
Normally when diamonds are graded, they are either SI1 or SI2, G or H. Several diamond graders may give different grades on the same stone, however one lab would issue one grade.

This might be a little late for you, but your diamond has an eCS =.754 which indicates that it has been cut 24.6% off of the IDEAL, or if you looked at it through an appraisers eye it should be a 3/4ct instead of a carat. It would then be much more brilliant and have the Sparkle your looking for.
eCS is the e-Praise Cut Score
