Hey guys!

Ok. Here's my dilemma.

My gf and I have been pretty serious and that time has come for us to make official what we've had in defacto terms the last 7 years. She pretends like she's some sort of low maintainence girl, but in reality I know better. She'll say she doesn't care what sort of ring or what sort of diamond or gem or stone to get or whatever. She'll SAY THAT, BUT I know she'll want something that makes her look good and feel good.

Her friends help only a little and without pinning one of them down and forcing her to tell me what would work best, i'm sort of on my own with this one hahaha. Ok. So hit me up with some opinions or suggestions on what I can get her that will show her I'm not a cheap jerk or anything.

My criteria:
Not cheap
Not too flashy
High quality but not senseless quality (like, if you can't tell the difference between an SI1 and a VS1 and she says 'why did you spend that kind of money' blah blah blah).
Style - I really won't know style wise until I see it and hope it matches what sort of things she's into.

Ok diamond masters! Hit me up!!!

Why don't you tell us more about your girl....

1) when she dresses/accessories, does she like to blend in or be noticed?
2) what would you say her style is? antique/old-fashioned.... classic/simple.... contemporary/trendy.... very modern/futuristic?
3) If you had to guess, what size diamonds do her friends have?
4) Any idea what shape she would prefer? Round is typical, princess is also popular. Asscher is an acquired taste many women like once they see it in person, and the other shapes also have their appeals.

Now some other questions....

1) What's your budget?
2) Would you prefer a larger center stone or lots of side stones or something in between?
3) Is a matching bridal set / wedding ring important?

Look at her sister or friends' rings if they have them and see what they're into. Use that as a guage for comparison and then put your own style into it.

Hi, Thanks for replying!!

1) She's kind of a tom boy but gets dressed up when she goes out, I wouldn't say she dresses to impress or anything. She's a simple girl.

2) I would say her style is contemporary. Something that is new looking but nothing too crazy modern!

3) I've asked 3 of her friends and there's are princess from 0.75-1.00 Karat Size.

4) I think she wants princess as well.

5) My budget is about $5-6 G's

6) I'd like something with some side stones.

7) Eventually I would like to get matching bridal ring, but not right now.

Hi Carl,

You can't go wrong with a simple ring such as the ones below:

Channel Set Diamond Ring (http://www.adylon.com/item/ENS160A)
Shared Prong Pave Diamond Ring (http://www.adylon.com/item/ENS358A)
6-Stone Shared Prong Diamond Ring (http://www.adylon.com/item/ENS127A)

I've attached the pics below. All have a "new" look to them, not old fashioned, simple enough but have nice accent diamonds, have a classic appeal to them not too trendy, and you can get the engagement ring now and the matching wedding ring for a bridal set later on.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Yosef

I don't maintain an inventory so I have nothing to show you, but I've married to the same wonderful lady for the past 60 years this November and would suggest if you allow it, that you walk the young lady into a jewelers tell her you want her help and choose and discuss the merits and prices together. Then arrange to return for it and have it packed into a box of chocolates for presentation. Or some such other romanticism. If you insist on going it on your own a round brilliant of .66 ct or more well made of H color and SI 2 clarity is a great place to start. This you have set in a four prong Tiffany style ring in yellow or white gold. She'll love it and you.
