I'm not certain Tiffany would go for it, but if you walked into the store with a diamond in hand and asked to have it set, you might get away with it. It's a cleaver idea though devious.

No, you can't do that. Why...

Reason # 1 - If you have a Tiffany's mounting and you go buy a cheap ugly diamond, it will make those who see it think less of the Tiffany & Co. Name.

Reason # 2 - Tiffany & Co. is very aware of the fact that people will pay ridiculous prices for their name, but because of the fact that you can't simply look at a diamond and tell if it was sold from Tiffany & Co. People are more likely to go elsewhere and save money.

Here's an idea; Buy the mounting you like with the cheapest diamond possible and then replace it elsewhere. If you can find a cheap enough diamond originally, It could easily save you thousands....even tens of thousands dependant on the diamond you replace it with!
