After some careful study, I've concluded that Gary Roskin is correct in his article in JCK for January 2007 when he writes that they (GIA and AGS) are having a showdown as to which is right and the best way to describe the cut Grade of a diamond. It seems that both systems have been based heavily, not on instrumentation only, but on visual examinations. These, I feel, must change from individual to individual thereby producing varying results. It further interested me when I read that effort is made to bias the graders from time to time. This also would produce questionable results and unreliable reports. Since the rest of this was deemed unpublishable, I'd be happy to answer any questions regarding the origin of my thoughts on this subject.
