My wife has inherited a diamond ring and is attempting to insure it.

She took it to a local jeweler who gave this information but they didn’t map the diamond.

Approximate 2 carets, 8.24 x 6.49 mm, emerald cut center stone. VS1-2, I-J. Girdle has small nick. No mention of internal flaws.
Two begets, S1, H.

The ring is platinum.

The estimated value was $25,550. I know sight unseen no one can give a 100% yes or no but generally does that seem like a reasonable value? Also, does anyone map stones anymore? The insurance co wants a map.

Thanks
Mr. P

The stone itself is probably worth around $10,000 to $12,000.

The ring with the 2 baguettes, it really depends on the size/quality of the diamonds of course, but I'll assume around 1/4cttw and say it's value is around $3000.

So $15,000 would be a reasonable price to pay for the same ring. $25,500 seems like a typical appraisal value for such a ring because they always seem to be higher for some reason.

Denverappraiser can appraise/map your diamond for you. There are other appraisers out there as well, if you need help let me know.
