What's the difference between pave and micro pave? Is one better then the other?
Candi,
Pave-set diamonds can be any size stones, however it's usually 1-10 pointers. Micro-Pave is more for diamonds <1 point in size and usually done in a way to bring them very close together with minimal prong/metal exposure so it looks like a thin band of tiny diamonds. It's a difficult type of setting but something many jewelers can do. But only the best can do it very well.

The main difference between micropave and pave is that stones used in micropave are smaller and are set using a different technique. Unlike regular pave, where stone sizes can vary in order to fill the space, micropave achieves that same result by using stones of a uniform size that are offset from row to row creating a honeycomb-like pattern.
Pave and micropave come in a variety of setting styles. Two main types are: "royal" and "four-bead." Royal pave utilizes a common bead to hold three adjacent stones in a honeycomb pattern. Each bead has to be relatively large in order to overlap all three stones. A total of six beads hold each stone in place. In a four bead setting there are four beads solely dedicated to each stone and the beads are smaller.

Maybe they are, like the man says "in the eyes of the beholder" but the difference you should understand is "time" = Labor ne price of production

Stones are main difference between pave and mircopave. These stones are used in micropave. Theses are smaller in size. Stones are set by using a different technique.
In micropave, stones are used of a uniform size. While in pave, sizes of stone can vary in order to fill the space.

thats kinda like counting the thread in hose for sheerness. Micro being closer work has to be labor intesive, but done by a skilled setter of equal quality.
You decide.
