Is this true about diamonds looking bigger?

I heard from some of my girlfriends that diamonds always look bigger once they are set in a mounting? Is this always the case? Can anyone here who has experience in the matter give some feedback? Orrrrrrrr....... are there certain settings that make round brilliants look BIGGER?

The prongs can make a diamond appear bigger. Also by mounting in a dainty/delicate band it can look bigger. If you want it to look bigger you could have it bezel set. Like a 6.5mm round with a bezel might have an overal diameter of say 7.5mm. Or you can put a diamond halo around it making it look much bigger.

Whenever its the center of attention its bigger. The small band would also make it look bigger because the proportions might be different than comparable rings. :)
