I'm deciding between two types of metals for my band and one of the things I wonder is...................Which metal is more prone to scratch? Platinum of Palladium?

Platinum will actually scratch easier and show more scratches than 14 karat white gold. Many people find this characteristic of platinum very desirable, as a platinum ring worn daily will develop a "patina", which is best described as a brushed, very white look.
Platinum and Palladium are both in the platinum family of metals. Platinum is significantly more dense and heavier that palladium but palladium resists scratching a bit more than platinum does.. There is also a significant difference in price between the metals.

Thanks. Do you think palladium would be a good alternative to 14k white gold then?
I like the whole idea of having platinum, but I'm not sure I am ready to pay for the difference in price (how big of a discrepancy is it?) and palladium sounds a little more durable from what you're saying. |
